1 Either pull off the spark plug cap
from the plug or disconnect the
wiring from the coil and pull the
coil off the plug.
2 Unscrew the plug using your
spark plug socket, with an
extension bar if the plug is
recessed, and lift the plug out –
a plug socket has a rubber insert
that will grip the plug so it comes
away in the socket.
3 Most bikes use plugs with a
single earth electrode, and
before fitting them you need to
check that the gap between the
two electrodes is as specified in
your manual or handbook.
4 To check the gap it is best to use
a wire type plug gauge because
this can be used on all plug types
and comes with a fitted adjuster.
