Each spark plug will have either a lead from a remote coil going into a
cap that fits onto the plug, or wiring connecting to a coil that fits directly
onto the plug. Whatever type is fitted, on multi-cylinder in-line engines
it is essential that you note which cap or connector feeds which plug,
because if they are incorrectly reconnected the firing order will be
wrong, and the engine will either run very badly or not at all.
It is likely that it is difficult to get it
wrong as usually the leads or the
wiring are numbered according
to the cylinder they connect to, or
the length and routing of each lead
or wire is such that it is obvious
where they must be connected. If
there is any doubt, label each lead
or wire yourself.
