How to drain your motorcycle’s oil
You will need a suitable container
to drain the old oil into, making
sure it is big enough to hold
the amount of oil in the engine.
Bear in mind that the oil must
be disposed of correctly,
which means transporting it
to a recycling depot, and so a
dedicated oil drainer that can
be sealed is best, but you can also use an open container or tray and
then transfer the oil from that into a sealable container. You will also
need some rag to clean up spills, and it is advisable to wear protective
disposable gloves.
1 Warm up the engine so the oil will drain more easily and completely, then
stop it and wait a few minutes to allow the oil to settle. Take extra care
when working on a warm engine, particularly when removing the filter,
which is often located at the front near the exhaust downpipes.
2 Remove the oil filler cap so the engine can vent as it drains.
