4 Brake bleeding doesn’t always go smoothly. If it’s not possible to
produce a firm feel to the lever or pedal look for any high point in the
system in which a pocket of air may be trapped, and try to dislodge it
by tapping or moving the component, then bleed the system again.
5 If you are still having trouble the fluid may be full of many tiny air
bubbles rather than a few big
ones. To remedy this, apply
some pressure to the system for
a few hours by tying the lever
lightly back to the handlebar or
by tying a weight to the brake
pedal, and the tiny bubbles
should either rise to the top in
the reservoir, or form into one or more big bubbles that can be bled
out by repeating the bleeding procedure.
6 Before riding the bike you must make sure that the brakes are
working correctly, and be aware that on bikes with ABS or a combined
or linked system there may be specific requirements for correctly
bleeding the brakes that you will find detailed in your manual.
